50: Y2K Fashion, Reselling, and Fun Thrift Hauls With Maddie Salerno
“In the world of thrifting, there’s a niche for everyone!”
Maddie Salerno loves all things fashion, thrifting, and finding a creative outlet through social media and art. She started thrifting when I was young, flipping furniture over the summer and trying to find the most unique items to add to her wardrobe and home. She re-fell in love with thrifting vintage pieces post-college when she needed an entirely new wardrobe to enter the corporate world. Finding her own style through thrifting was therapeutic and brought a lot of joy during those first few months of the "transition into the adult world. “On an entry-level salary, thrifting was an exciting and budget-friendly way to build her wardrobe as a 20-something fashionista. Her love of thrift heightened during the pandemic when everyone was on Instagram and TikTok showing off their personal style. Being able to promote all the pieces you spent hours hunting for to thousands of people on social media was exciting and different than just wearing a notable outfit to her office of 50 people and sitting at a desk all day. Maddie grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended Kansas State University graduating with a Public Relations degree. She has lived in Denver for almost a year and is a freelance graphic designer, thrifter, and chalk artist full-time. She also coaches high school cheerleading, has a mini-Schnauzer named Finn, resells clothing on Depop, and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family.
